Guide

Set up Spotnet
with EasyUsenet.

Spotnet is the shortest route to your first download: search and newsreader in one program, completely free. Five steps and it is running.

Guides · Spotnet
Dutch only. Spotnet's interface is available in Dutch only. If you cannot get on with that, Momentum is the beginner-friendly alternative – also with search built in.
1

Download Spotnet

Download the archive from the official site and unpack it into a folder of your choice – for example C:\Spotnet. There is no installation in the classic sense: Spotnet runs straight from the folder.

  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
  • An unpacker for RAR archives
  • About 200 MB of free disk space
2

Start Spotnet

Start Spotnet.exe. On first launch Windows may ask for confirmation – that is normal, because the program is not signed. The setup wizard then opens.

3

Enter the server details

In the wizard, choose Custom Usenet provider and enter our details. Your username and password are in the e-mail you received after ordering.

Check the connection

Click Testen. If a success message appears, the connection is up. If not, check the port and the TLS/SSL tick box first – those are the most common stumbling blocks.

No connection? Then almost always the port is wrong or TLS/SSL is not switched on. Check 563 with TLS/SSL and the spelling of your username. If that does not help, write to us – we will look at it together.
5

Search and download

Spotnet brings its own index: you search directly in the program, click an entry and the download starts. Spotnet repairs and unpacks automatically.

  • Search using the bar at the top of the window
  • Filters for categories and time period in the sidebar
  • Target folder under Settings → Download set

FAQ

Questions about Spotnet

What we are asked most about this guide.

Is Spotnet free?
Yes. Spotnet is free software from an independent project. You only pay for your Usenet access with us.
Is Spotnet available in English?
No, the interface is available in Dutch only. If you need an English interface, take Momentum or SABnzbd – both are linked in our overview.
Does Spotnet run on macOS or Linux?
No, Spotnet is a Windows-only program. For macOS and Linux, SABnzbd or NZBGet are the right choice.
Do I also need an indexer?
No. Spotnet brings its own community index – you search directly in the program and do not have to download NZB files from anywhere else.
Which port should I use?
563 with TLS/SSL switched on. That encrypts the connection between your machine and our servers, at no extra cost.
How many connections should I set?
100 – that is our maximum, and it is included in every plan. Fewer only slows you down, more gains nothing.
The connection fails – what now?
Check port 563, the TLS/SSL tick box and the spelling of your username and password. If it persists, write to our support team: we will set it up with you.
